Architecture - University Transfer

Architecture is undoubtedly a fascinating field of study, as it involves creating and crafting big buildings that serve as symbols of society’s development and progress over time. An architect undertakes the crucial responsibility of designing and engineering these grand structures to cater to a wide range of practical, artistic, and technical requirements. By melding imagination, technical proficiency, and innovative thinking, architects have the power and opportunity to transform the built environment into something that can inspire generations to come.


Art - University Transfer

Kilgore College offers general education, art and design courses necessary to apply to a university program in the arts. The Visual Arts Department of Kilgore College provides a comprehensive range of foundation courses. These courses are a combination of studio and lecture. The art major gains complete instruction in art foundations as outlined by the Coordinating Board’s Transfer Curriculum in the Visual Arts.


Dance - University Transfer

The Dance Department at Kilgore College offers an intensive curriculum in ballet, modern dance, tap and jazz for the beginning student as well as those who have had more extensive dance experience.  Dance at KC prepares students who wish to enter the professional world upon graduation as well as those who want to continue their studies at a four-year college as majors in Fine Arts, Physical Education or Dance Education.


English - University Transfer

Kilgore College offers freshman and sophomore college-level credit hour courses in English, including courses focused on composition and communication skills, literary criticism and analysis and courses to complete the Core Curriculum.  Developmental English courses are also offered to prepare students for success in a wide variety of college-level courses.



A geography degree opens doors to careers in restoration, research, activism, and management. Graduates with a focus on geospatial techniques can become geomorphologists or water resource specialists. Studying geographic information science can lead to careers in graphic information systems and remote sensing analysis.


Government - University Transfer

The Department of Humanities and Social/Behavioral Sciences, at Kilgore College, offers courses in government that are necessary to complete the Core Curriculum requirements for an Associate’s Degree, or transfer to an upper division university to acquire a baccalaureate degree. These courses are guaranteed to transfer to any public college or university in Texas. They also transfer to most private schools. In addition, these courses also serve as an exciting introduction to a field of study in government.  


History - University Transfer

History is important for it tells us who we are and how the world we live in came to be what it is. It even offers clues as to where we are headed in the future. To understand who we are now, we need to know the record of the past and to try to understand the people and forces that shaped it.  In the process, basic patterns of human behavior become discernable as one studies people across time who lived in diverse locations and cultures.


Journalism – University Transfer

In the coursework, you will gain insights into the traditional principles of journalism and receive hands-on training in the latest communication technologies. By combining these two approaches, you can not only refine your writing skills but also learn how to incorporate multimedia content to tell compelling stories. 


Liberal Arts - University Transfer

A liberal arts degree, which is an educational program that is widely recognized for its versatility and breadth, comprises a diverse range of subjects that encompasses history, literature, writing, philosophy, sociology, psychology, creative arts, and many more. Music - University Transfer

Kilgore College offers an Associate of Arts degree with a Field of Study in Music. Students may pursue either an associate degree focusing on music or may take elective music lessons without pursuing a music-related degree. Music studies at Kilgore College offer students the opportunity to receive individual instruction in all major performance areas and to be involved in a variety of ensembles. Music students at Kilgore College are afforded numerous performance opportunities, many of which would be often reserved for third and fourth-year students at larger four-year institutions.

Speech - University Transfer

Kilgore College offers general education requirements, drama, philosophy, psychology and speech necessary to apply to a university offering bachelor programs in speech, speech education and business communications.

You can be brilliant in your field, but if you can’t communicate successfully with co-workers and the public, your brilliance is wasted,” says Marilyn Makes, executive director of the National Association of Colleges and Employers.


Theatre/Drama - University Transfer

The Kilgore College Theatre Department seeks to balance a rigorous production and performance schedule with a substantial and challenging academic experience. Small classes (average ratio: 1 to 16) allow each instructor to give students a great deal of individual attention, enhancing the probability of the student establishing good study habits and a higher GPA. Performances are held in the newly renovated Van Cliburn Auditorium.
