The Kilgore College Choirs will present “Reflections,” a concert featuring guest pianist Kessa Mefford, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Van Cliburn Auditorium on the Kilgore campus.
The concert will feature performances by KC’s choral ensembles, with Mefford joining as a special guest pianist.
The two-day event will begin Monday, Oct. 19, with a piano masterclass and lecture recital featuring Mefford at 1 p.m., also in Van Cliburn Auditorium.
During the masterclass, Mefford will provide one-on-one instruction to KC freshman music major and pianist Noah Crowe.
Peter Cunningham, director of choral and vocal studies at KC, said the events will provide valuable opportunities for students to learn from an accomplished musician while connecting with the community through music.
“Music creates opportunities for connection and reflection,” Cunningham said. “We’re excited to welcome Kessa Mefford to campus and give our students the opportunity to learn from and perform alongside an accomplished artist while sharing that experience with the East Texas community.”
