GenCyber Institute for Educators

about the GenCyber Institute for Educators

Kilgore College will host the GenCyber Institute for Educators during the week of June 24 – 28, 2024.

Middle school and high school teachers throughout East Texas will gather together to learn the fundamental knowledge and skills needed for teaching and applying cybersecurity concepts. Teachers will also learn methods for increasing awareness of cybersecurity-related career opportunities among their students.

Educators who enroll in the Institute will have opportunities in the months before and in the months following the Institute to interact and network with cybersecurity professionals and other teachers.  Lesson plans will be made available that teachers can use with their students back at their schools. Teacher participants will also help promote and identify student participants in a virtual GenCyber Career Day to be held in the months following the summer Institute.

What do gratuates of the institute receive?

Graduates of the GenCyber Institute will each receive a stipend of $730 and will earn 56 CPE hours.

Each participant will also receive a GenCyber Cybersecurity Teaching Kit, which includes items such as a set of Yubikeys, classroom games, posters, books, an SSD hard drive loaded with teaching resources, a t-shirt, and a tote bag.
