Kilgore College extends its heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Courtney G. Pruitt for her service and leadership as athletic director. Dr. Pruitt will conclude her service at KC on Aug. 26.
Since joining KC as athletic director in 2022, Dr. Pruitt has helped lead Ranger Athletics through a period of achievement and growth. During her tenure, Ranger football captured back-to-back Southwest Junior College Football Conference championships in 2022 and 2023, and KC added cheerleading as an official NJCAA athletics program.
Just as importantly, Dr. Pruitt has emphasized success in the classroom. During the 2025-26 academic year, 15 KC student-athletes earned NJCAA academic honors, 32 were named to the Region XIV All-Academic Team and three KC programs earned NJCAA Academic Team recognition.
Her impact has also extended beyond the KC campus. As the first Black woman to serve as athletic director at Kilgore College, Dr. Pruitt has been recognized as a trailblazer and role model for women in athletics.
Most recently, as chair of the NJCAA Women’s Flag Football Sports Committee, she played a key role in helping women’s flag football achieve official NJCAA championship sport status beginning with the 2027-28 academic year.
Dr. Pruitt’s leadership, commitment to student-athletes and dedication to creating opportunities for others have left a lasting impact on Ranger Athletics and Kilgore College.
