ABOUT THE PROGRAM

This course will prepare students for entry into a health care career as a Sterile Processing Technician. Students will learn techniques, procedures and safety precautions for the decontamination and sterilization of medical and surgical equipment and instruments, as well as the distribution of supplies and equipment. Class size is 10 students. After completing this course, students will be ready to sit for the certification exam with the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) to begin a career in hospitals and surgery centers.

Skills Lab On-Campus:
Mondays and Tuesdays

Clinicals:
Tuesdays through Thursdays
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Clinicals meet two days a week

Documentation of all required basic or childhood immunizations, including a current tuberculosis skin test, documentation of starting and completing the Hepatitis B vaccination, and a current flu shot.
