KC opens new pedestrian bridge after ribbon cutting

Kilgore College held an official ribbon cutting March 26 to celebrate the completion of the new pedestrian bridge over Highway 259 on the Kilgore campus.

Speakers at the event included KC President Dr. Brenda Kays, Kilgore Mayor Ronnie Spradlin; and KC student Kaitlyn Williams, of Arp.

In September of 2022, the KC Board of Trustees awarded RLM General Contractors as the contractor to demolish what was left of the old pedestrian bridge, and to build the new bridge that stands now.

The new bridge is ADA compliant with elevators on both sides and a 19-foot, 6-inch clearance – as opposed to the previous bridge’s 16-foot clearance.
