Kilgore College has officially added cheerleading to its intercollegiate athletics program as a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) sport, marking a new chapter for KC Cheer.
A press conference introducing the new cheerleaders and Head Coach Shawn Mosley will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, on the second floor of the McLaurin Administration Building.
While KC has fielded competitive cheer squads in the past, the newly established athletics program will compete against other NJCAA institutions and operate as an official KC Athletics sport. Competitive cheer was officially added by the NJCAA as an emerging sport in December 2020.
Mosley joins KC from Allen High School, where she established a record of success in competitive cheerleading and earned 10 national cheerleading championships during her coaching career.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Mosley to Kilgore College and have her lead this new chapter for KC Cheer,” said Dr. Courtney Pruitt, KC athletic director. “Kilgore College has a proud history of talented and successful cheer squads, and we look forward to building on that tradition while creating new opportunities for competition and enhancing the game-day experience for our students, fans and community.”
Mosley said she is excited to join the KC family, become part of the East Texas community and represent Ranger Athletics.
