Kilgore College and Phi Theta Kappa honor student Shiva Heidari has been named to the 2025 All-Texas Academic Team and selected as a semifinalist for the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.
Heidari, who serves as publicity chair for the Gamma Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at KC, was chosen from nearly 200 nominees representing 50 community college districts across Texas. She was formally recognized at a medallion ceremony hosted by The University of Texas System and the Texas Association of Community Colleges on April 25 at UT San Antonio.
In addition to her state-level recognition, Heidari was named one of 461 national semifinalists for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. The foundation received more than 1,600 applications for the highly competitive scholarship, which supports exceptional students transferring from community colleges to four-year institutions.
Heidari, who is from Iran, is completing her studies at KC and plans to transfer to the University of Texas at Dallas in the fall to pursue a degree in pre-medicine.
The All-Texas Academic Team program recognizes high-achieving community college students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and a commitment to community service. More information is available at www.utsystem.edu.
