About Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness Leadership

This new associate of applied science degree (coming Spring of 2021) at KC is on the cutting-edge of instruction in both homeland security and emergency preparedness issues in Texas and the United States. The curriculum includes examinations of the roles undertaken and methods used by governmental agencies, non-governmental agencies, and individuals who respond to these issues. Emphasis is placed on emergency management; managing as an incident commander; critical infrastructure protection; communications; contingency planning; combatting terrorism; leadership development; and disaster training. Individuals who have served in the Texas State Military Department may be eligible to have some or all of their TMD training converted into academic credit under House Bill 3601 (86th Legislature, regular session).
