The Kilgore College Chorale is the principal choral ensemble at KC and is open to both music majors and non-music majors who, by audition, can demonstrate the ability to sing in tune and make a contribution to a college-level chorus.
The KC Chorale offers its singers the opportunity to rehearse and perform artistic choral literature of different styles and historical periods, both sacred and secular, composed for the medium-sized mixed chorus. It is designed to provide the background, training and experience needed for students wishing to continue to sing at the university level. Singers are enabled to grow in the technical skills necessary for quality vocal and choral music performance and are led to encounter the rich aesthetic and emotional experience which the arts can express.
Concerts are held in Van Cliburn Auditorium in the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Building on the Kilgore campus as well as area churches, often accompanied by an orchestra.
KC Connection is a highly select group of singers who perform a wide variety of music written for small ensemble, drawn from classical and popular genres. Membership is open to both music majors and non-music majors who, by audition, demonstrate the aptitude for elite music making above and beyond what is required of membership in Chorale.
KC Connection performs frequently, and can be seen singing in and around the Kilgore community. Members represent the school in public concerts, auditions, and other functions and thereby develop personal traits of leadership, poise and dependability as well as develop high morale and maintain school spirit. KC Connection offers the opportunity for mutual effort and success through rigorous rehearsal, development of knowledge and skills in vocal production, musicianship, and expression, and by performing compelling repertoire to the highest possible standard.
