Texas Senate Bill 8 (also known as the Texas Women’s Privacy Act) went into effect Dec. 4, 2025. This law applies to all public colleges and universities. The new law requires that multiple-occupancy restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities be designated for use only by individuals of one sex, based on biological sex.
Kilgore College is in compliance with this law and maintains male and female designated restrooms in all campus buildings. Kilgore College also recognizes that some individuals may prefer a private, single-use restroom option.
For convenience, public single-use restrooms can be found at the following locations on campus:
Available when open:
Available to residents:
Everyone on campus is expected to follow this law including but not limited to employees, students, contractors, visitors, volunteers, etc. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we comply with state law and continue to ensure that our campus remains respectful and welcoming for all.
To comply with the legal requirements set forth in SB 8, Kilgore College will provide clearly marked restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities to support usage based on biological sex and offer the option of single-use restrooms. Biological sex refers to reproductive anatomy or sex assigned at birth on original birth certificate, not gender identity.
To support all students and employees, Kilgore College will also post public signage with a QR code that identifies all gender-neutral or single-use facilities.
Penalties for SB 8 violations apply to institutions, not individuals, with the College subject to potential fines and lawsuits. To comply with state law and demonstrate Kilgore College’s commitment to understanding, safety, and mutual respect, the College will use reasonable efforts to educate and inform students, employees, and visitors on the requirements of SB 8.
