General Education Requirements. Transfer.

About Geography

Kilgore College offers general education requirements necessary to transfer to a university offering bachelor programs in geography. The Department of Humanities and Social/Behavioral Sciences at Kilgore College serves the students of the college by providing courses that meet the Core Curriculum requirements for successful transfer and completion of an Associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. World Geography (GEOG 1303) is offered during both the Fall and Spring semesters each year. At least one Social Science course is required for all transfer students, and a World Geography course is an excellent option for many majors. Understanding the social, economic, and political characteristics of the various regions of the world can be helpful for success in almost any career. Most Elementary Education majors find that the course meets a requirement for certification when they transfer. Liberal Arts majors have found that they are increasingly being recruited by businesses that are seeking well-educated graduates who can think analytically and communicate in both written and oral forms. World Geography is a course that provides a background that is not matched by other elective courses.
