SHRM Essentials of Human Resources®

  • Books & Practice Exam Included, Final Exam Registration & Fees are separate.
  • SHRM-CP (Certified Professional) is designed for individuals who are new to human resources or have up to two years of experience. This certification focuses on operational-level HR competencies and skills. You do not need to currently hold an HR position or title to pursue the SHRM-CP, though a basic understanding of HR principles is recommended before testing.

  • SHRM-SCP (Senior Certified Professional) is ideal for those in strategic HR roles for at least three years, those who have held the SHRM-CP for three years, or those actively transitioning into strategic-level responsibilities. This certification validates expertise in areas such as policy development, enterprise-wide HR oversight, and aligning HR strategies with organizational goals. Applicants must dedicate a minimum of 1,000 hours per year to strategic-level HR work.
