Annabelle Phillips, a member of the Gamma Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society at Kilgore College, has been named a 2024 New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar.
Phillips, of Hallsville, received the prestigious honor along with a $1,500 scholarship at the Association of Community College Trusteesโ (ACCT) Leadership Congress, held Oct. 23โ26 in Seattle, Wash.
The New Century Workforce Pathway Scholarship program, sponsored by the Coca-Cola Foundation with additional support from PTK, recognizes students for academic excellence, leadership, service, and significant accomplishments.
Phillips stood out among more than 2,200 applicants, earning the highest score in Texas.
This marks the second financial scholarship Phillips has received from PTK this year. She is also an All-Texas Academic Team member and the current president of PTK at KC. Phillips plans to graduate from KC in the spring with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Advertising and Graphic Design Technology.
The Gamma Omicron Chapter at KC is led by faculty sponsors Lori Solley, art instructor; and Curtis Ivory, biology instructor.
