KC’s 90th Anniversary ceremony set for Sept. 15

Kilgore College will celebrate its 90th anniversary with a community ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, on the west side of the Pedestrian Bridge on the Kilgore campus.

The program will include remarks from KC leaders along with city and county officials, as well as musical selections from KC Connection. Attendees will also receive a commemorative program featuring quotes and well-wishes from past faculty and staff in honor of the collegeโ€™s milestone anniversary.

Speakers will include KC President Dr. Brenda Kays; past president Dr. William Holda; KC Board of Trustees President Josh Edmonson; Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness and Excellence Dr. Staci Martin; Kilgore Mayor Ronnie Spradlin; and Gregg County Judge Bill Stoudt.

Founded in 1935 during the Great Depression, KC was established to provide affordable higher education opportunities for East Texans. What began as a small institution serving a struggling oil-boom town has grown into a vibrant hub for higher education, innovation and community engagement.

โ€œThis 90th anniversary is more than a milestone โ€” itโ€™s a celebration of our community, our students and the generations of lives that Kilgore College has impacted,โ€ said Dr. Brenda Kays, KC president. โ€œAs we reflect on our beginnings in the 1930s, we also look ahead to the future, committed to innovation and growth while staying true to our founding mission of opportunity and access.โ€

Today, KC serves more than 8,000 students across a wide range of academic, technical and workforce programs, while remaining true to its mission of making education accessible to all.

The event is free and open to the public.
