KC Theatre hosting annual high school One Act Play Workshop through Feb. 12

The Kilgore College Theatre Department is hosting its annual One Act Play Workshop through Feb. 12 in Van Cliburn Auditorium on the Kilgore campus, giving high school drama programs an opportunity to prepare for the University Interscholastic League statewide theatre competition this spring.

Throughout the week, students from across Texas are performing their one-act plays and receiving professional critiques from KC Theatre faculty and Texas Shakespeare Festival staff members.

The workshop includes participation from 19 schools, bringing nearly 380 high school theatre students and educators to campus this week.

In addition to the performances and critiques, students have the opportunity to tour KC, including the Texas Shakespeare Festival Center, where they gain insight into the production process behind one of the stateโ€™s premier professional theatrical festivals.

โ€œThe KC Theatre One Act Play Clinic gives high school students a chance to grow their talent right here on our campus,โ€ said Micah Goodding, KC theatre instructor. โ€œWe hope it inspires them to keep pursuing their passion. When theyโ€™re ready for the next step, weโ€™d love to welcome them to Kilgore College to continue their journey.โ€
