KC will host public forums Oct. 27 for presidential search input

The Kilgore College Board of Trustees has begun a search for the institutionโ€™s next president following the retirement announcement of Dr. Brenda Kays.

The board has selected the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) to assist with the process. Former KC President Dr. Bill Holda will serve as the lead consultant and will work with the board throughout the search to gather feedback and guide recruitment.

The search will emphasize confidentiality for applicants, transparency throughout the process, and broad input from KC stakeholders, including employees, students, and community members.

To develop a presidential profile, three public listening forums are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 27, on the Kilgore campus. Each forum will take place on the second floor of the McLaurin Administration Building.

Forum schedule:

  • 11:30 a.m. in the McLaurin Administration Building
  • 1:30 p.m. in the McLaurin Administration Building
  • 3:30 p.m. in the McLaurin Administration Building

The forums are open to the public and may be attended in person or virtually through the following link:

A survey will also be available for individuals to provide anonymous feedback regarding the collegeโ€™s leadership needs. The survey will open at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, and close at noon Tuesday, Oct. 28, at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5GMZ6LW.

Input from the forums and survey will help shape the draft presidential profile, which will be finalized by the search committee and board. Finalists for the position are expected to participate in open forums at KC during the final week of March.

Recruitment will include a nationwide search for qualified candidates, with advertisements placed in The Chronicle of Higher Education and other higher-education publications.

A presidential search webpage is being developed to provide updates, the search timeline, and application details.

Questions about the search may be directed to Dr. Bill Holda, ACCT Search Consultant, at wmholda@gmail.com or (903) 987-3332.
