The East Texas Oil Museum at Kilgore College will celebrate its 45th anniversary on Friday, Oct. 3, with special programming and discounted admission.
The celebration also marks the 95th anniversary of the Daisy Bradford No. 3 discovery well, which launched the East Texas Oil Boom and reshaped the regionโs history.
Kilgore College itself was established soon after to accommodate the areaโs rapid population growth fueled by the oil boom.
The anniversary celebration will feature special โopening-day pricingโ of $1 for adults (ages 12 and older) and 50 cents for children (ages 2โ11). The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with final admission at 4 p.m. KC employees receive free admission.
A special exhibit will highlight the museumโs history and showcase changes and renovations completed over the years.
โAs we celebrate 45 years, we not only honor the history of the East Texas Oil Museum but also the history of our community and the oil field that changed it forever,โ said Michelle Benton, museum supervisor. โWe invite the public to join us as we reflect on the past and look forward to the future.โ
