Testing Services - Kilgore

Mission Statement:

The Kilgore College Testing Center located on the Kilgore campus is dedicated to assisting students in meeting their educational and career goals by providing convenient, high quality testing services to our students and the community and adheres to the NCTA (National College Testing Association) Professional Standards and guidelines.


Location:

Second floor of the Devall Student Center on the Kilgore campus.


Testing Center Hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (last test starts at 6:30 p.m. and must be completed by 7:45 p.m.)
  • Friday: 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. NOTE: No correspondence, eLearning, TEAS V, VCT, Computer Competency or GED tests are administered on Fridays.
  • Saturday-Sunday: Closed

Testing Center Summer Hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (last test starts at 5:30 p.m. and must be completed by 6:45 p.m.)
  • Friday: 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.   NOTE: No correspondence, eLearning, ATI TEAS, VCT, Computer Competency or GED tests are administered on Fridays.
  • Saturday-Sunday: Closed.

Special Note: All testing is by appointment only and exams must be completed 15 minutes prior to closing time.


Testing Center Guidelines:

  • Most testing is by appointment only. Appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance of desired test date. Walk-in and stand-by testing is NOT allowed, unless specifically stated on the testing schedule.
  • Any cellular, electronic or alarm device must be turned off completely. Failure to do so will result in the CANCELLATION of your test scores and your dismissal from the Testing Center.
  • Food, drink, gum and tobacco products are not allowed in the testing center.
  • A current, valid, recognizable photo ID must be presented upon each visit to the center.
  • Personal belongings must be placed into an empty locker (items that don’t fit will need to be returned to your vehicle)
  • Testing staff is not responsible for items stored into the locker cabinets (students are encouraged to leave personal items in their vehicle).
  • Children and other visitors are NOT ALLOWED to wait in the testing area.
  • eLearning students arriving more than 10 minutes after their scheduled appointment will not be able to take their test and will need to reschedule for another day.
  • Testing Fees are non-refundable.
  • Payment of testing fees MUST be made prior to testing at the Cashier's Office.

Available Tests, Test Dates and Registration Forms

ACT:

The ACT is only offered on the Kilgore campus on select dates. Please visit the links below for available test dates and registration.

  • ACT (no writing) - $46
  • ACT (writing) - $62.50
  • Standby (In addition to No-Writing or Plus Writing fee) - $53
  • Students must register for the exam online at www.actstudent.org.


ATI TEAS:

The TEAS exam is available for students applying to the ADN nursing program. The exam is online and students may test twice per calendar year. Students with specific questions about the KC nursing program and additional requirements should contact the nursing department.


CLEP:

Computer Competency Exam:

Students must demonstrate computer competency in one of two ways:

  • Earn a grade of "D" or higher in one of the approved computer competency courses at Kilgore College.
  • Achieve a score of 70 or higher on the KC Computer Competency Test. The test consists of both computer concepts and application usage.


GED Computer-Based Test (CBT):

NOTE: The passing score for each GED subject area is 145. This means if a student achieves a score of 145 or higher, they have passed that subject area.

Candidates must register in one of the following ways:

  1. Through the Pearson VUE call center at 1-877-EXAM-GED (392-6433)
  2. Through www.ged.com
  3. At the testing center

The cost is $36.25 per test or $145 for all tests however; the entire test cannot be taken on the Kilgore campus in one day.

  • Test on Mondays and Tuesdays (depending on availability) between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

SAT:

The SAT is only offered on the Kilgore campus on select dates. Please visit the links below for available test dates and registration.

  • SAT (no essay) - $45
  • SAT (with essay) - $57
  • SAT Subject tests - $20 (per registration) 
  • Language with Listening Tests - $26 (per test) 
  • Waitlist (Standby) Testing: $46
  • Students must register for the exam online at sat.collegeboard.org.


TASC Test:

The TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) is a secure, reliable, and valid assessment that is used to verify that examines have knowledge in core content areas equivalent to that of graduating high school seniors. The test provides high school equivalency scores.

The cost is $24.80 per section or $124 for all sections however; the entire test cannot be taken on the Kilgore campus in one day.

Candidates must register in one of the following ways:

  1. Through https://texas.tasctest.com/
  2. Visiting the testing center


Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Exam:

The TCFP online exam is offered by appointment only, Mondays through Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration Procedures:

  • Candidates must schedule an appointment at least 24 hours prior to the test date by calling at 903-983-8215 or emailing the Kilgore testing center at testing@kilgore.edu.
  • Candidates must pay the $30 proctoring fee to the Cashier’s office on the Kilgore campus prior to scheduling a testing appointment. 
  • Only cash, Debit/Credit cards and money orders are accepted. Payments can be made by  phone to the Cashier’s office by dialing (903) 983-8108 or by visiting the Cashier’s office in person.

What to bring on test day:

  • Candidates must provide an unexpired government-issued photo ID on test day.
  • Candidates taking the online exam must also provide an unexpired Online Exam Eligibility form.  Both the candidate’s name and DOB must match on both the Online Exam Eligibility form and the government-issued photo ID.
  • Candidates must bring a copy of the Cashier’s receipt.

Additional Information:

  • Candidates may not have any electronic devices or study materials on their person while testing. All cellular and electronic devices must be stored in a locker cabinet or returned to the candidate’s vehicle.

After the exam:

  • After testing is complete, candidates may view their results through their FIDO account.
  • Results are posted to the candidate’s account within 24 hours after the exam is completed.
  • Candidates should contact the TCFP regarding retesting procedures.

TSI Assessment:

NOTE: If you are planning to attend an institution other than Kilgore College, you must request a TSI Assessment Remote Voucher from the institution you plan to attend.

SPECIAL NOTE: Remote vouchers will not be issued or accepted during the months of January, August or December.

You must complete the following steps in order to schedule a testing appointment:

  • Submit an admissions application at least one week prior to scheduling an appointment
  • Submit transcripts/test scores to Registrar's Office prior to scheduling an appointment
  • If you have questions regarding your TSI status or which sections of the TSI Assessment you are required to take, you must contact the Registrar’s Office prior to scheduling your testing appointment.
  • Complete the PAA (Pre-Assessment Activity) available at https://www.tsipreview.com/welcome/KilgoreCollege
  • Pay $40 (full test) or $20 (partial test) to the KC Cashier's Office by cash, debit/credit card or money order.
  • Provide a receipt from KC Cashier’s Office and KC’s Pre-Assessment to the Testing Center on test day.
  • • Partial TSI Assessment tests are scheduled Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only. Partial testing consists of two or fewer sections of the TSI Assessment.

Special Accommodations:

It is the policy of Kilgore College to provide reasonable and appropriate accommodations for individuals with documented disabilities. The Testing Center will not schedule your exam without first receiving proof of payment and a copy of the Special Accommodations Request Form.

TSI Pre-Assessment Activity

Students must complete the pre-assessment activities, print out the certificate at the end and bring the certificate with them when they come to take the TSI test.

Online (eLearning) Testing Services

The Testing Center will proctor eLearning exams according to the following guidelines:

Testing guidelines for eLearning students (KC students only):

  • All testing is by appointment only.
  • All appointments need to be made 24 hrs. in advance NO Exceptions
  • Testing is not available on weekends.
  • A student cannot schedule an appointment until we receive tests from the instructor.
  • Students arriving more than 10 minutes late from their appointment will need to reschedule for another day.
  • Students are responsible for keeping up with test dates and for contacting instructors with questions.
  • Valid, recognizable photo ID is required for all testing(KC ID cards require current semester sticker)
  • Students will only be allowed to enter testing labs with items specified by instructor.
  • Children and other visitors are NOT ALLOWED to wait in the testing area.
  • Food, drink and tobacco products are not permitted in testing labs.
  • A $30 fee is assessed per exam for all courses not originating from KC.

How to make an appointment:

Students can click this link OR login to AccessKC using their KC login credentials to request a testing appointment at least 24 hours in advance of the desired test date.  Appointments may also be made in person at least 24 hours in advance of the desired test date.

Request appointment for an online (eLearning) exam

Please follow these instructions when requesting your appointment by logging in to AccessKC:

  1. Click on “Academics”
  2. Then click on the “Testing Services” link on the left panel
  3. Select the “Testing Services-Kilgore” link on the left panel
  4. Click on the “Schedule Test” link on the left panel
  5. Enter all of the requested information on the schedule form.
  6. Click on the “Request Appointment” button at the bottom of the page.
  7. Students will receive an email confirming or re-scheduling their appointment.

VCT - Virtual College of Texas:

Kilgore College participates in a consortium of area colleges to provide additional opportunities for students to take courses.

  • Students NOT enrolled through KC in a VCT course must pay $30 per test for each exam proctored through the testing center.  Contact the Distance Education department for enrollment details at (903) 988-3700.
  • Once enrolled through Kilgore College, students must complete the Correspondence/VCT Test Proctor Request form above.
  • Complete the Correspondence/VCT Test Proctor Request form and submit to the testing center at least one week prior to your test deadline or desired test date.
  • Students not enrolled through KC will not be allowed to schedule appointments during late registration and finals weeks.

Correspondence (Non-KC Students):

  • Students enrolled through an institution other than KC must pay $30 per test for each exam proctored through the testing center.
