Ranger Cards & ID Badges

It is mandatory that all students, faculty & staff carry either a Ranger Card or ID Badge with them while on campus.

Kilgore College has two official picture ID cards – the Ranger Card and the ID Badge.  Both can be used to identify students, faculty, and staff as Kilgore College affiliates.  Ranger Cards have a debit card capability and ID Badges do not.


For Information on How to Obtain a Ranger Card or ID Badge: The Kilgore College Police Department (KCPD) issues both the Ranger Card and ID Badge.  Call KCPD Kilgore at (903) 983-8650 or KCPD Longview (903) 236-2011 or visit the KCPD office on the Longview campus or the Service Center in the Devall Student Center on the Kilgore campus. Office hours in Kilgore and Longview are Monday - Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.)


Procedure: The Ranger Card and ID badge are official Kilgore College picture ID cards. In addition to identifying the relationship with Kilgore College, the cards provide access to campus events and activities, residence halls/other buildings, meal plans, and the library. Meal plans may only be used via the Ranger Card or ID badge.


Library Card Info: Your Ranger Card or ID Badge have a barcode for library use. Make sure you present either at the library.


Policy on ID Picture-Taking: For ID pictures Kilgore College requires individuals to remove any items not worn as a required part of their daily appearance (i.e. prescription eyeglasses). The only exceptions are items worn for cultural and religious reasons. All bandannas, hats, sunglasses, and/or visors, etc. are to be removed before the picture is taken.


ID Fee Structure:

  1. Student's First ID: The first Ranger Card or ID Badge is free for all students. Students may receive one free card each semester. This includes the cost of the card and administrative cost associated with production.
  2. Student Replacement ID’s: A $25 charge will be placed on the student’s college account when a replacement Ranger Card or ID Badge is issued within the semester. All other types of payments must be submitted to the Cashier’s Office before having KCPD re-issue another ID.
  3. Faculty/Staff/Others: Faculty and Staff are entitled to a free replacement ID. 

Student Discounts: Some merchants may provide a student discount to all Ranger Card and ID Badge holders. If you are a merchant and would like to offer a discount, please call (903) 983-8189.


Reporting a Lost/Stolen Card: Lost or stolen Ranger Cards or ID Badges should be reported to the KCPD immediately.  In the case of a Ranger Card, please call 1-866-348-3435, 24 hours a day. The Ranger Card holder will be asked their social security number, birth date, and their mother’s maiden name for verification purposes before the card is canceled.   Kilgore College provides replacement service of Ranger Cards and ID Badges during operational hours. The ID’s can be replaced at the KCPD offices in Kilgore and Longview.

KCPD cannot answer questions about student accounts, financial aid, refunds or banking issues.  Those questions must be referred to the Cashier’s Office, Financial Aid, or Herring Bank.

Who qualifies for a card?

  • Students enrolled in the current semester.
  • Faculty & Staff (Permanent employees of Kilgore College, defined as receiving benefits, are entitled to a free Ranger Card as a condition of their employment).

Use your card to:

  • Receive financial aid disbursements (unless you designate another financial institution)
  • Receive book buyback credits
  • Purchase food through your meal plan
  • Check out books from the library
  • Attend athletic events
  • Test at the Testing Center
  • Participate at the Fitness Center
  • Attend assigned Class/Tutor Labs
  • Receive student discounts from participating merchants

Kilgore College and Herring Bank have teamed up to offer you a convenient, one-card solution with the Ranger Card. The Ranger Card is a multi-functional Student ID Card that allows you to open an optional checking account at Herring Bank that offers free access to Herring Bank ATMs and over 55,000 Allpoint ATMs nationwide (effective July 2016).  You will be able to make no-fee purchases at merchant locations that accept MasterCard signature or pin-based transactions. It’s the easy way to access cash and make purchases on and off campus.

New Kilgore College Students:

Student Refund Choice – Please watch the attached video to learn the new options for receiving your Kilgore College Student refund.  If you want  to use your existing bank account, at the time you make your choice, please be prepared to provide your bank routing number and your bank account number.  This choice is required before you can get your Kilgore College Student ID card.

Financial Aid Disbursements:

  • If chosen, you can use the optional Ranger Student ID multi-functional card account offered by Herring Bank to receive financial aid disbursements.  If you would like to designate a different account for your direct deposits, you may do so through AccessKC.  Click on Designate Direct Deposit and follow the instructions.

Ranger MasterCard Debit Card Policies

Purpose:

  • To enhance a more user-friendly environment for students, faculty, and staff by providing a high quality, single card system that allows efficient access to all card-related services throughout Kilgore College and to seek new and expanded uses of the card through improved, advanced technology.

Scope:

  • The policy has a college-wide applicability.

Definitions:

  • Terms are defined as needed within this document.

Expiration of Ranger Card:

  • Ranger Cards are valid while cardholder still has an “active” status with Kilgore College or until the card’s expiration date.

How to Make Deposits on your Ranger Card

In-Person – Herring Bank Branch:

  • You can make a deposit to your Ranger Card at any Herring Bank branch.
  • Present your ID card when making a deposit to identify yourself as a Ranger Card holder.

Direct Deposit Designation

  • Student financial aid disbursements and all other refunds can be directed to an existing account or to your Student ID Debit Card checking account offered by Herring Bank.  To make your refund delivery choice go to Campus Connect (link) and complete your designation.

Payroll Direct Deposit:

  • Present your routing and account numbers to your employer.
  • Your routing number is 111302846.
  • You can obtain your account number by calling 1-866-348-3435.

Deactivating or Reinstating your Ranger Card:

  • Faculty/Staff, Students, and other college cardholders do not have to surrender their Ranger Cards upon discontinuing their enrollment with Kilgore College. We have an automatic privilege assignment/removal process to enable or disable the ID card. If the card has the banking option, disabling the card would not deactivate the banking feature of the card.

  • Emeriti (Any individual that has been given an Emeriti status by Kilgore College is entitled to a free ID card as a courtesy of past employment) 
  • College Board (Any member of the College Board is entitled to a free card).

  • Test at the Testing Center
  • Participate at the Fitness Center
  • Attend assigned Class/Tutor Labs

ID Badges do not have debit card capabilities and cannot have refunds or financial aid deposited onto them.
