ATHENS, TX -- No. 5 Trinity Valley Community College kicked a 21-yard field goal with 57 seconds left to tie the game up at 41 and force overtime against No. 12 Kilgore College Nov. 12 at Bruce Field.
TVCC scored first in overtime, then picked off a KC pass on the Rangers' turn on offense to win the SWJCFC crown, 48-41, and spoil KC's efforts to win a second-straight championship.
Kilgore College QB Chandler Eiland scored on three TD runs of 1, 6 and 12 yards in the game. His final touchdown gave the Rangers a 41-31 lead in the fourth quarter, but TVCC scored with 5:57 left in the game to get within three points and eventually kick the game-tying field goal.
With the win, TVCC improves to 10-1 and advances to the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl on Dec. 3 in Copperas Cove. The Rangers end their season at 6-4.
