No. 7 Trinity Valley women rally to defeat Lady Rangers, 85-67

KILGORE, TX -- The Lady Rangers played lights out in the first half, but couldn't overcome a Cardinal surge in the second half Jan. 11, losing 85-67 to No. 7 Trinity Valley Community College.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak by Kilgore College.

KC had a three-point advantage at halftime, 34-31, but TVCC caught fire late in the third quarter and never looked back.

Dean earned a double-double by also grabbing 10 rebounds.

Ireneshia Johnson led all KC scorers with 23 points, making 5-of-9 three pointers with one steal and one assist.

Jada Hood was also in double figures for the Lady Rangers with 11 points.

Rounding out the scoring for KC was Sarah Matthews (9), Annillia Dawn (8), Sarah Matthews (4), Tara Kessner (4), Kai Finister (4), Alba Garcia Camarena (3), Arielle Wilson (3), McKenze Brown (2).

TVCC's Curtessia Dean led all scorers with 27 points, earning a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Three other players for TVCC (16-1, 5-0 Region XIV) were in double figures with Asia strong scoring 18, Tiya Douglas scoring 17 and Kaye Clark scoring 13 points.

KC (14-3, 2-3 Region XIV), will travel Wednesday, Jan. 15, to take on Coastal Bend College.  Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. in Beeville.
