TYLER, TX -- The Tyler Junior College Lady Apaches scored 55 points in the second half to run away from the Lady Rangers, 92-67, in KC's first conference game since the Christmas break.
The Lady Rangers went into halftime only down 37-33, but TJC capitalized on KC mistakes in the second half to snag the conference win.
TJC's Nautica Grant scored 32 points for the Lady Apaches knocking down 11-of-18 shots including six three-pointers.
Sky'lynn Holmes earned a double-double for TJC with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Lakendra Bassett was also in double figures for TJC with 14 points.
Kilgore College had three players in double figures with Danielle Meador leading the way with 18 points and six rebounds. KC's Jade Thurmon scored 17 points and Lyrik Williams was 6-of-11 for 16 points.
With the win, TJC improves to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in Region XIV play, sitting in second place in conference behind Trinity Valley Community College.
KC drop to 11-3 overall and 3-2 in Region XIV action. The Lady Rangers are in a three-way tie for third place in the Region 14 with Angelina College and Panola College.
The Lady Rangers' next game is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, in Kilgore versus Bossier Parish Community College. The KC men will follow, facing Coastal Bend College at 7:30 p.m.
