Three Lady Ranger basketball players sign scholarships to four-year schools

Three Kilgore College Lady Ranger basketball players made their college choices official May 8, signing scholarships at a ceremony crowded with KC fans and supporters.

Players who signed were Jade Thurmon (Iowa State University); Tyra Cormier, (The University of Tampa); and Alicia Mardis (Arkansas Tech University).

Thurmon was named Region 14 Most Valuable Player, a consensus JUCO All-American and was the country's leading scorer. She was also a member of the Region XIV All-Tournament Team.

Cormier joined the Lady Rangers after spending her freshman year at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. During her lone season at KC, she played in all 32 games with 26 starts. She was also the team's leading shot blocker this season with 31 swats.

Mardis leaves Kilgore after a stellar season in which she was the team's leading rebounder, averaging more than seven boards per game. She finished the season as the 10th-best rebounder and 9th-best offensive rebounder in Region  XIV.
