San Jacinto sweeps Ranger softball team at home

KILGORE, TX -- Kilgore College softball struggled in the first game to score runs and lost a lead in the second game to get swept by San Jacinto March 7.

Kilgore College couldn't keep up with San Jacinto College March 7, losing to San Jacinto College, 14-0, at The Ballpark at KC Commons.

Kaylee Thomas led things off on the mound for San Jacinto, pitching five innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out four and walking one.

Mattie McQuary was in the circle for Rangers, allowing seven hits and seven runs over two and a third innings. Marissa Medina and Dani Moreno entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning, respectively.

San Jacinto collected 15 hits on the day with Lillie Grotenhuis, Dalilah Bravo, Morgan Childs, Alexis Uresti and Laura Hernandez each collecting multiple hits for San Jacinto College.

SAN JACINTO 9, KILGORE 6

In the second game, KC had a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, but gave up the lead late for a 9-6 loss to San Jacinto.

KC scored first in the second inning with an RBI single by Reagan Busby on a fly ball to center field.

San Jac tied it up in the third then KC went ahead 3-1 in the fourth inning on a two run home run by Nicole King to center field.

After San Jac scored a run in the top of the fifth inning, three runs in the bottom of the fifth on a Marissa Medina single, a score on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by KIng.

With the score 6-2 in the top of the sixth, San Jac scored four runs on a walk and a double that scored thee runs.

San Jac scored three more runs in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly and two doubles.

KC was retired in the bottom of the inning to lose to San Jac, 9-6.

King was 1-for-1 with three RBI, Mac Pierpoint was 2-for-2 and Medina was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
