San Jacinto defeats Lady Rangers, 105-67

KILGORE, TX -- The Lady Rangers played a solid first half and were only down by 2 points to the San Jacinto College Lady Gators at intermission. But SJC was just too much for KC, running away with a 105-67 victory Jan. 28.

SJC's Kendra Howard led all scorers with 22 points, followed by KC's Imaobong Akpan who had 18.

KC had two other players in double figures -- Darreion Clark with 18 and Deshawnta Lyday with 12.

SJC had three other players in double figures -- Nekeita Bailey with 15 points, Vanessa Jones with 11 and Miranda Lejune scoring 10.

The game was plagued with turnovers -- 22 for SJC and 29 for KC -- and KC's lack of depth from the bench due to injuries wore KC out in the second half.

With the loss, the Lady Rangers drop to 6-13 overall and 3-9 in Region XIV play.

KC's next game is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, when they will host Tyler Junior College.  The men will follow at 4 p.m., also against TJC.
