KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers struggled to make shots and get defensive stops in the second half of the game Jan. 6, losing to San Jacinto College, 72-65.
Once again, missed free throws also hurt the Rangers. KC made only 56 percent of its free throws (14-of-25).
The lead was back-and-forth most of the game until San Jacinto built a sizeable 10-point lead with five minutes left. KC just couldn't catch up down the stretch.
KC had three players in double figures with Antonio Moore leading the way with 19 points even though he didn’t play most of the second half because of foul trouble.
Jaleel Wheeler scored 16 and Alassane Kah added 10 points.
San Jacinto had two players in double figures with Candido Sa scoring 13 and Corey Davis with 15 points.
With the loss, KC drops to 12-4 overall and 2-4 in Region XIV play. San Jacinto improves to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
The Rangers' next game is 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, on the road facing Jacksonville College.
