KILGORE, TX -- Kilgore College's Marquis Broussard scored five rushing touchdowns in a 67-13 blowout of the Cisco College Wranglers Sept. 17 at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium.
It was the conference-opener for the Rangers who improve to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in SWJCFC play. The win also put KC in the No. 16 spot of the NJCAA national rankings.
KC put up 46 points in the first two quarters and didn't allow the Wranglers to score a point in the second half.
Freshman running back Tyreik Gray was KC's leading rusher with 145 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown reception from quarterback Chandler Eiland on a 24-yard pass play. Broussard ran for 81 yards on 10 carries.
Eiland had an impressive game in his first game as a starting college quarterback, completing 12-of-17 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns.
Kyle McBride was KC's leading receiver with five catches for 65 yards.
Defensively, KC sophomore linebacker Michael Jackson consistently disrupted the Wrangler offense with 10 solo tackles, six assists, a tackle for a loss and one fumble recovery.
KC sophomore Tristan Thompson had nine solo tackles, four assists and a sack along with freshman Troy Burnett who had eight solo tackles, four assists and an 8-yard tackle for a loss.
With the loss, Cisco drops to 0-4 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.
The Rangers will travel Saturday, Sept. 24, to Brenham to face the Blinn College Buccaneers.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at Brenham ISD-Cub Stadium.
Blinn lost Sept. 17 to No. 11 Trinity Valley Community College, 36-28.
The Buccaneers are 2-2 overall and 1-2 in SWJCFC play under interim head coach Ryan Mahon.
