Rangers surge in big second half to defeat Paris, 70-58

KILGORE, TX -- For the second-straight game, the KC men rallied from a halftime deficit with a strong second half to defeat a gritty conference opponent.

Paris Junior College (7-6) nailed a half court three-pointer at the buzzer just before halftime to take a 38-35 lead, but the Dragons' momentum quickly fizzled in the second half thanks to potent Ranger play.

The Rangers outscored Paris 35-20 in the second half to ensure a third-straight victory, 70-58.

KC (8-3) was led in scoring by KJ Jenkins with 13 points. He also had five assists, a steal and two rebounds.

Dantwan Grimes and Stephan Morris were also in double figures with Grimes scoring 11 points and Morris, coming off the bench, with 10.

Paul Otieno and Da'Sean Nelson each had eight points and were big on the boards with Otieno grabbing seven rebounds and Nelson eight boards.

The Rangers shot an impressive 59% of its shots (29-of-49) while Paris was 22-of-56 (39%).

Paris' Tavion Carroll led all scorers with 14 points.  Preston Aymond and Kavon Freeman were also in double figures for the Dragons with 13 and 12 points respectively.

The Rangers travel Wednesday, March 10, to face Panola College in Carthage. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

With Panola's victory, 77-74, over Lamar State College-Port Arthur March 6, Panola sits in second place in Region XIV with a 9-2 record.

KC is in third place in the conference with its 8-3 record.
