Rangers suffer first loss of season to Hill College, 77-59

KILGORE, TX -- The Hill College Rebels handed the Kilgore College men their first loss of the season, 77-59, Nov. 14 at Masters Gymnasium.

Hill had four players in double figures with Shamar Bailey coming off the bench to lead the Rebels with 16 points.

Xavier Johnson scored 13 points for Hill while Jamir Cheeks and Quinton Brigham each scored 11 points.

Vilgot Larrson was key on rebounding the ball for Hill with 13 rebounds (10 defensively).

Kilgore's Daytone Jennings got in foul trouble early but ended up with a double-double effort with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Darrian Grays came off the bench for KC to score 12 points (4-of-6 from behind the three-point line) and Davon Newton scored 11 points.

With the win, Hill improves to 5-1 while KC drops to 4-1 on the season.

KC's next games are part of the KC Classic at Masters Gymnasium Nov. 17-18.  Tipoff against Lonestar College-Tomball is set for 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17.  The Rangers will then face Cedar Valley College 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18.  

The TJC men will open up the classic each day with a 4 p.m. game Friday versus CVC and a 2 p.m. game Saturday versus LSC-Tomball.
