Rangers split games in KC Classic Nov. 14-15

The Kilgore College Rangers won the first game of the KC Classic Nov. 14, but suffered their first loss of the season Nov. 15 at the hands of a talented Arkansas Baptist College team, 59-55.

The Rangers now sit at 5-1 on the young season and will play Hill College next at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Masters Gymnasium.

KC vs. Lone Star-Tomball:

NOV. 14: KC won the first game of the classic in convincing fashion, 107-51, against the Lone Star College-Tomball Timberwolves.  KC was led in scoring by Alassane Kah who had 15 points.  Antonio Moore and Quantez Brown each had 13 and Larry Beckett finished with 12.

The Rangers led the Timberwolves 51-27 at the half and finished the game with an impressive 70 percent of made field goals.

Miles Banks was huge on the boards with 11 rebounds and six points.  Tomball finished with three players in double figures with Sheldon Williams with 16, Thomas Hernandez with 14 and Bradley Saseybon with 11.

KC vs. Arkansas Baptist College:

NOV. 15: After shooting 70 percent from the field the night before against Tomball, the Rangers struggled to make shots against the Arkansas Baptist College Buffaloes en route to a 59-55 upset at Masters Gymnasium.  

KC only shot 31 percent from the field and made 63 percent of its free throws in the contest.

The Rangers had one player in double figures, Jonathan Milligan, who ended up with 14 points. Jaleel Wheeler finished with 9.

Arkansas Baptist College had two players in double figures. D.J. Reed had 12 points and nine rebounds and Kevin Grayer finished with 11 points for Arkansas Baptist.

KC trailed the Buffaloes 28-19 at the half, down by as many as 10 points at one point.  The game was back-and-forth, with seven lead changes in the game.  

The Buffaloes, who are now 4-5 on the season, also struggled from the field, only hitting 38 percent of its shots, but were fiesty enough at the end of the game to get the win over the 13th-ranked Rangers.
