Rangers open up conference play with 41-13 win over Cisco

CISCO, TX -- Kilgore College opened up conference play Sept. 16 with a statement on the road, routing the Cisco College Wranglers, 41-13.

KC used two quarterbacks in the game, Jalil Kilpatrick and Roger McCuller, who were both effective.

Kilpatrick finished the game 9-of-12 for 248 yards and two touchdowns.  McCuller was 4-of-6 for 38 yards with one interception.

Tailback Carlos Franks was KC's leading rusher with 100 yards on 16 carries.  Lucky Daniels was KC's top receiver with 106 yards receiving on two catches and one touchdown.

KC got on the scoreboard first after Morgan Vest picked off a Wrangler pass in the first quarter setting up a 17-yard KC drive that ended in a 23-yard field goal by Jose Goite.

In the second quarter Darius Doakes blocked an extra point by Cisco College and Byron Robinson ran the ball back 90 yards for two points to make the score KC 5, Cisco 6.

KC followed that with a nice kickoff return by Greg Mims to the Cisco 37 yard line.  Frank completed the drive with a 29-yard touchdown run to put the Rangers up 13-6.

With 2:53 left in the second quarter Kilpatrick connected with Daniels who made an incredible one-handed catch for a 92-yard touchdown to put the Rangers up 20-6 at halftime.

In the third quarter, KC outscored Cisco 21-0 with scores by Frank on a one-yard rushing touchdown, a fumble returned 38 yards for a touchdown by Thomas and 31-yard touchdown pass from Kilpatrick to De'Montre Tuggle.

Cisco eventually scored once the game was out of reach with 1:20 left on a 30-yard pass to make the final score 41-13.  KC's defense forced seven Cisco punts

KC, now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in Southwest Junior College Football Conference play, will host Blinn College 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23.
