KILGORE, TX -- The Lamar State College-Port Arthur Seahawks earned their first conference victory Jan. 13 by defeating the Kilgore College Rangers, 67-48.
LSC , ahead 30-28 at halftime, went on an 8-0 run in the second half and the Rangers never caught up.
KC struggled in the second half to make shots, shooting only 20 percent (0-for-12 from the three-point line).
It didn't help KC that the Seahawks made 49 percent of their shots (23-of-47) and were 50 percent from the three point line (6-of-12).
KC also had three players in double figures with Malachi Davidson leading the Rangers with 14 points. Â Davon Newton and Demiere Brown each scored 11 for KC.
LSC had three players in double figures with Travious Grubbs leading the way with 16 points. Â Stefan Radosavljevic scored 15 and Kolbe Littlefield came off the bench to score 11 for the Seahawks.
The Seahawks entered the game at 0-6 in conference play but had lost very close games to Trinity Valley, Panola and Bossier Parish Community College.
KC's next game is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at home versus Tyler Junior College. Â The Rangers are 11-5 overall and 3-4 in Region XIV play.
