Rangers handle Bossier Parish, Lady Rangers narrowly lose to Trinity Valley

The Kilgore College men put on an offensive clinic March 27 in a win over Bossier Parish Community College while the Lady Rangers lost a close game to Trinity Valley Community College.

RANGERS 89, BOSSIER PARISH 67

KILGORE, TX -- Brendon Hoberecht had the hot hand March 27, knocking down six-of-seven three-pointers and leading the team with 20 points in a KC conference victory over Bossier Parish Community College.

The Rangers built a 50-23 lead by halftime and never let off of the gas in the second half, shooting an impressive 59 percent (34-of-58).

Besides Hoberecht, three other Rangers were in double figures with Da'Sean Nelson (16), KJ Jenkins (14) and Dantwan Grimes (12).

Jenkins nailed four three-pointers (4-of-8).

Rounding out the scoring for KC were Tysen Banks (8), Stephan Morris (6), Duane Posey (4), Godwin Illumoka (3) and two points each by Michael Okoye, Javonne Lowrey and Paul Otieno.

KC travels Sunday, March 28, to face the same Bossier Parish team which is a makeup from the "Great Texas Snowstorm." Tipoff is 4 p.m. in Bossier City, La.

TRINITY VALLEY 69, LADY RANGERS 60

KILGORE, TX -- Ramena Henderson hit a three-pointer late in the game to give the Lady Rangers their first lead, but the Trinity Valley Lady Cardinals did what they usually do by finishing the game strong with a 69-60 conference victory March 27 in Masters Gymnasium.

Jada Hood led KC in scoring with 14 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Henderson earned a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds while Hannah Narvaez scored 11 and Kerrighan Dunn had 10 points.

The Lady Rangers pressured the Lady Cards all game, forcing 20 turnovers, but struggled shooting the ball, making only 25 percent of their shots (21-of-85).

TVCC made 41 percent of its shots (27-of-66).

Mahoganie Williams led all scorers for TVCC with 19 points. Mailyn Wilkerson scored 13 for the Lady Cards and Tiyanna Jackson earned a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Rangers (8-12, 6-9 Region XIV) will play 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 29, at home in a non-conference matchup with 903 Elite.
