Rangers defeat Paris at home, 97-84

KILGORE, TX -- Kilgore College, led by Cameron Gooden with 35 points, recovered from a second half rally by Paris Junior College Feb. 1 to defeat the Dragons, 97-84.

KC (18-5, 9-4 Region 14) led by 15 points at halftime, but the Dragons (8-13, 3-9 Region 14) went on a 22-6 run to take the lead five minutes into the second half.

The two teams traded the lead seven times in the second half, with Gooden and Lamar Everd putting on a shooting clinic.

Twenty-six of Gooden's 35 points came in the second half, while Everd scored 34 points in the game -- 28 of which were scored in the second half.

Michael Thomas scored 16 points for the Rangers while D'Rell Roberts and Stephan Morris each chipped in 10 points.

KC shot 50.7 percent from the field and made 18-of-21 free throws.

Rounding out the scoring for KC was Montrell Horsey (7), Tyron McMillian (6), Justin Davis (6), Jeremy Lefort (3), Rodrigue Andela (2) and Assane Ndiaye (2).

Carl Parker and Starlin Hamilton were also in double figures for Paris with 19 and 10 points, respectively.

The Rangers are off Wednesday, but will travel to Carthage Saturday, Feb. 8, to face Panola College at 4 p.m.
