KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers scored early and often Nov. 17, defeating the Lone Star College-Tomball Timberwolves, 98-52, in the first day of the KC Classic.
In the opener, TJC defeated Cedar Valley College, 84-52.
In the nightcap, the Rangers outscored the Timberwolves 44-18 in the first half, building momentum by scoring 54 points in the second half.
KC had six players in double figures with Daytone Jennings as its lead scorer with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Davon Newton came off the bench for KC and scored 14 points and Tavion Atkinson and Darrian Grays each scored 12 points.
Lansana Nwosu and Demeire Brown each scored 10 points for KC.
The Rangers shot an impressive 66.7 percent from the field compared to Tomball's 37 percent.
With the win, KC improves to 5-1 on the season.
KC will wrap up the KC Classic Nov. 18 with a 4 p.m. matchup with Cedar Valley College. TJC will open up the classic Saturday with a 2 p.m. tipoff against Tomball.
