Rangers defeat Houston CC; will travel to play Blinn Saturday

KILGORE, TX -- The Rangers rolled in the second half after going into halftime up 38-points to defeat the Houston Community College Eagles 94-51 Dec. 29.

The game was the first game for KC since the Christmas break in preparation for a trip Saturday, Jan. 2, to play conference opponent Blinn College in Brenham.

KC's Jaleel Wheeler, who played sparingly in the second half, was perfect from the field and the free throw line, scoring 20 points to lead all scorers.  

Wheeler was 7-of-7 from the field, 4-of-4 from behind the arc and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. He also had three assists and five steals.

KC had four other players in double figures.  Gregg Session hit 3-of-4 three pointers, scoring 15 points.  Alassane Kah was 6-of-9 from the field with 14 points and Ndene Gueye was 5-of-7, scoring 13 points.

The Rangers shot an impressive 70 percent from the field for the game.

HCC had two players in double figures.  Nicholas Clark was the Eagles' leading scorer with 12 points and Kevin Diaz added 11.

With the win, KC improves to 12-2 overall. They are 2-2 in Region XIV play.
