Rangers defeat Houston CC in first game after break

KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers upended the Houston Community College Eagles 97-40 in a lopsided victory Dec. 30.

It was a good warmup game for KC after taking a break for the Christmas holidays.

KC had five players in double figures with Davon Newton and Demiere Brown leading the way with 16 points each.

Brown added 14 rebounds to earn a double-double.  Newton was 4-of-6 from beyond the three-point line.

Darrian Grays came off the Ranger bench to score 13, Daytone Jennings scored 12 points and Chad Bowie scored 11 points.

The Eagles struggled mightily shooting the ball, making only 25 percent of their shots (15-of-60).

Camron Adam was HCC's leading scorer with 13 points.

With the win KC improves to 9-3 on the season and sits at 1-2 in Region XIV play.

The Rangers will travel Friday, Jan. 5, to play conference opponent Blinn College in Brenham.
