KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers basketball team put up some impressive offensive numbers Nov. 12, defeating the Hill College Rebels, 86-66, in Masters Gymnasium.
KC built a 42-25 halftime lead. The Rebels got within 10 points of the Rangers at the 10 minute mark of the second half, but back-to-back three-pointers by Michael Thomas extended the Rangers lead for good.
Thomas led all scorers with 21 points, nailing 4-of-5 three pointers, celebrating his 20th birthday in fashion.
Sophomore guard Cameron Gooden scored 15 points and had 6 assists while D'Rell Roberts scored 13 points and Montrell Horsey scored 11 points for the Rangers.
Rodrigue Tha Andela earned a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Finishing off the scoring for KC was Justin Davis scoring 5 points, Stephen Morris and Tyrell McMillian scoring 4 points each and Jeremy LeFort with 2 points.
KC shot 54 percent from the field, made 46 percent of its three-pointers, and was 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Leading scorers for Hill College were Chris Murry with 14 points and Chase Lane and Amiri Waddell each scoring 12 points.
KC improves to 3-1 on the season while Hill College drops to 3-3.
KC's next home game is Friday, Nov. 15, in the two-day Ranger Classic at Masters Gymnasium.
