Rangerettes receive prestigious Texas Medal of Arts Award

The Kilgore College Rangerettes received the 2015 Texas Medal of Arts Award from the Texas Cultural Trust Feb. 25 at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin.

The Rangerettes accepted the award along with others such as Jamie Foxx, Dan Rather and T Bone Burnett.

Awarded biennially, the awards recognize lifetime achievement in several categories.

Some 83 people have been honored with a Texas Medal of the Arts including Willie Nelson, Steve Miller, Tommy Lee Jones, Eva Longoria, Betty Buckley, Debbie Allen and Robert Rodriguez.

Texas Cultural Trust is a nonprofit organization that supports the programs of the Texas Commission on the Arts and other state agencies.
