The world famous Kilgore College Rangerettes named new officers after tryouts Aug. 16 at the annual Rangerette Show-Offs.
Fifteen sophomores tried out for the coveted five officer positions in front of a packed house at Dodson Auditorium.
The five officers selected to lead the team for 2019-20 are:
- Captain: Karsen Conser, Whitehouse, TX
- Right End Lieutenant: Kendal DeVillier, Nederland, TX
- Right Middle Lieutenant: Kelee Norris, Longview, TX
- Left Middle Lieutenant: Emma Strange, Flower Mound, Texas
- Left End Lieutenant: Kayla Parker, Pearland, Texas
The Rangerettes’ first performance will be during halftime of KC’s first football game set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, in Kilgore versus Tyler Junior College.
The Rangerettes were the first of their kind when they began in 1940 as a vision of the late Gussie Nell Davis.
The organization created a unique combination of dance moves and precision drills that quickly earned them the reputation not only as the originators of dance/drill teams, but as the best in the world.
Known for their high kicks and the jump splits, the organization has traveled around the world, entertained millions and spurred a multi-billion-dollar dance/drill team industry worldwide.
