Ranger softball team sweeps Paris Junior College

KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers continued their winning ways April 15 with a two-game sweep of conference opponent Paris Junior College at the Ballpark at KC Commons.

The Rangers collected 25 hits and 27 runs in the two games with Shelby Edwards leading the way with five hits and six RBI in the twinbill.

KC won the opening game, 12-4, and the second game, 15-2.

In the first game Hailey Nash homered and drove in two runs.

Tori Tovar, Edwards, Kourtlin Hunter and Kaitlin Hunter each had two hits. Edwards doubled and drove in a run.  Kelsey Ahart, Brianna Ynfante, Breanna Ortiz, Kaitlin Hunter, Kourtlin Hunter and Tovar all collected RBI in the game.

Devyn Power earned the victory for KC by striking out three, walking one, giving up five hits in five innings.

In the second game Edwards and Alyssa Maldonado had three hits each. Edwards had four RBI and Maldonado three RBI. Nash had two hits and Tovar and Kaitlin Hunter each drove in two runs.

Katy Worrell was the winning pitcher for KC with six strikeouts and no walks, giving up two earned runs on five hits.

KC  imoroves to 18-18 overall and 11-9 in Region XIV play.

The Rangers will visit Angelina College for games at 1 and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, in Lufkin.
