WACO, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers knocked in 10 runs in the first inning on its way to a 14-5 victory Feb. 6 over McLennan Community College in the first game of a doubleheader.
KC won the second game against the Highlanders, 11-6, to improve its season record to 3-1.
Driving in runs in the first inning were Kelsey Ahart, Lauren Corley, Camille Freudensprung, Shelby East and Kendyl Dockter.
Ahart opened up the inning with one of two home runs in the game. The first home run was a three-run home run to left field and the second, in the fifth inning, was a blast over the center field fence.
Amanda White (2-0) was credited with the victory for KC in the first game, lasting five innings, allowing eight hits, five runs, striking out two and walking one.
The Rangers racked up seven hits on the day with Ahart and Makenna Bell having multiple hits.
In the second game, KC opened up the first inning with an RBI double by Ahart, scoring Shelby East.
Nicole King followed that up with a double of her own, scoring Dockter and Ahart.
In the seventh inning, KC scored seven runs with Christina Herrera, East and Ahart all driving in runs.
KC had 12 hits in the game with Dockter, Ahart, East and Corley all managing multiple hits.
Mattie McQuary (1-0) earned the victory for KC, lasting five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits, six runs, striking out four and walking one.
Amanda White threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen, recording the last four outs to earn the save the KC victory.
The doubleheader set for Feb. 9 in Tyler versus Texas College has been postponed due to inclement weather.
KC will return home Friday, Feb. 15, to play Weatherford College at The Ballpark at KC Commons. Games are set for 1 and 3 p.m.
