The Ranger softball team is finally getting a break from the wet weather -- just in time for its conference opener with Northeast Texas Community College, set for 1 and 3 p.m. Friday, March 9, at the Ballpark at KC Commons in Kilgore.
KC's last games were in the Region XIV Crossover at Longview's Lear Park where the Rangers had a 2-1 win over San Jacinto College to close out the tournament.
The Rangers (7-9) won in walk-off fashion with a single by Devyn Power to drive in the winning run.
Katy Worrell was the winning pitcher for KC, surrendering only one run on six hits. In addition to Power's game-winning hit, Camille Freudensprung, Shelby Edwards and Kaitlin Hunter each had one hit for the Rangers.
