Ranger softball team defeats No. 3 TJC in final inning

TYLER, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers snatched the lead late in the game in a 7-6 victory March 19 over No. 3 Tyler Junior College.

The game was tied at six with KC batting in the top of the seventh when Kelsey Ahart doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

KC built a four-run lead in the third inning and then held off TJC's charge, scoring five runs in the failed comeback.

In the first inning, TJC got their offense started with one run.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Apaches tied things up at six on a single.

KC scored four runs in the third inning. Kaitlin Hunter, Ahart, Makenna Bell and Avery Hooks all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Katy Worrell earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for KC, surrendering six runs on 10 hits over seven innings, striking out one and walking zero.

KC tallied nine hits on the day. Bell and Kourtlin Hunter had multiple hits for the Rangers.

They lost the opener of the doubleheader 9-1.

With the win, KC improves to 9-13 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
