Ranger softball sweeps Bossier Parish, tied for second place

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Ranger softball team continued its winning ways April 3 with a double-header sweep of the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers.

Pitcher Katy Worrell earned her 14th win of the season with KC's 4-3 victory over BPCC.

KC's Shelby Edwards started off the scoring with a two-run home run to left field in the first inning.

With the Rangers ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, BPCC grounded into a game-ending double play converted by Amber Williams and Brianna Davis.

In the second game, Lashanda Jones earned her 7th win of the season in a 16-5 Ranger victory.

Three KC players homered in the game with Manda Wilmoth hitting a three-run home run in the top of the second inning, Kaylie Bush hitting a two-run home run to center field in the fourth inning and Shelby Edwards hitting a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to center field.

With the wins, the Rangers are tied for second place with BPCC in the Region XIV East Zone.

The Rangers are back in action at home Wednesday, April 5, with a 1 and 3 p.m. double-header at The Ballpark at KC Commons.
