Ranger softball splits with Grayson College

DENISON, TX --  After being shut out Feb. 20 in the first game, 11-0, the Kilgore College Rangers rebounded by surviving a late four-run fifth inning rally to defeat Grayson College, 9-5.

In the first inning, KC got its offense started when Kendyl Dockter homered on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

KC put up five runs in the fourth inning with singles by Dockter, Makenna Bell, Shelby East and a double by Lauren Corley.

Mattie McQuary earned the win for KC, allowing only six hits and four runs over four and a third innings.

Andrea Decareau threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Rangers socked two home runs on the day, both in the first inning, by Dockter and Kelsey Ahart.

KC tallied 12 hits with Ella Ortiz, East, Corley and Dockter with multiple hits.
