Paris upends Lady Rangers 78-58 on the road

PARIS, TX -- A dismal shooting performance by the Lady Rangers resulted in a loss -- KC's fifth-straight loss after starting conference play at 4-1.

The Lady Rangers were up by two at halftime, 29-27, but Paris Junior College put together a strong offensive effort in the second half to defeat KC, 78-58.

PJC was led by Ariannah Kemp who scored 20 points, had 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

KC shot only 28 percent from the field for the game (17-of-66) and missed 14 free throws (21-of-35 for 60 percent).

Paris was 16-of-35 (46 percent) from the field in the second half compared to KC which was 7-of-37 (19 percent).

KC was led in scoring by freshman Lauren Carroll who earned a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Carroll was ejected from the game after a technical foul was called on her in the last minute of regulation after a dead ball when she and a Paris Lady Dragon both attempted to recover rebound.

Lyrik Williams also earned a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.  Dominique Thomas was a third player for KC in double figures with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

With the loss, KC drops to 10-9 overall and 4-6 in Region XIV play.

The Lady Rangers' next game is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, when they will face Panola College in Kilgore.
