KILGORE, TX -- Kilgore College was ahead by three points at halftime but a furious 18-2 Panola College scoring run to begin the second half propelled the Ponies to a 75-66 Region XIV win Feb. 1.
Panola shot three-pointers at will in the second half, hitting 60 percent of them (9-of-15) and finished the game 12-of-26 from behind the three-point line.
KC was led in scoring by Ndene Gueye with 20 points, almost earning a double-double by adding 9 rebounds. Jamar Sandifer was also in double figures for the Rangers with 17 points.
The Ponies spread its offense around with four players in double figures, Devyn Wilson leading the way with 16 points. Panola's Keondre "K.J." Byers and Eric McGill each had 13 points and Tope Arikawe ended up with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
With the loss, the KC men drop to 12-9 overall and 3-8 in Region XIV play. Panola improves to 15-7 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
KC travels Saturday, Feb. 4, to face Navarro College in Corsicana. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. against the Bulldogs.
