No. 14 TJC defeats Lady Rangers despite KC rally

KILGORE, TX -- The Lady Rangers rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to take the lead several times in the second half, but their leads were short-lived, losing to No. 14 Tyler Junior College, 69-63, in Masters Gymnasium.

TJC outscored KC 24-8 in a rough second quarter by the Lady Rangers, but KC responded in the third period by outscoring the Lady Apaches 23-12.

Both teams struggled from the free throw line with both teams making 57%. KC was 22-of-38 from the charity stripe while TJC was 12-of-21.

The Lady Rangers (4-5, 3-2 Region XIV) had only one player in double figures with Rahmena Henderson scoring 23 points, grabbing 10 rebounds to earn a double-double.

TJC (6-2, 2-2 Region XIV) had three players in double figures with Veonce Powell (18), Daijah Thomas (12) and Nala Hemingway (10).

Rounding out the scoring for KC was Josephine Adegbite (8), Mckenze Brown (7), Kerrighan Dunn (5), Tara Green (5), Hannah Narvaez (4), Jada Hood (4), Laraveun Randle (4) and Kai Finister (3).
